You don't like Starlings? We love them here.

I’ve got European Starlings, and the problem is they’re bullies - they chase off the other birds.

Speaking of, I need to find more types of feed they don’t like. I use safflower seed right now, because every time I put something else out they monopolize it and chase everything else away. I want to feed the cardinals!

They are some of the filthiest birds also. Even so I won't go out of my way to harm them.

A solitary hen turkey showed up at the home feeders today. First in more than two months.

Saw 'White Bird' perched half way down the ridge to the North of the club - out of the wind. The tree branches on the ridge are starting to pink up - spring will come.

Do they have predators where you are? Maybe they are feeding a hungry winter animal or raptor?

I am just seeing one bald eagle right now. They usually have a nest by this time, and that means only one will be off the nest at a time. But the strange thing is, I only saw the one all January, as if they started their nest early in late December. I hope that is what happened. I would hate to lose one. They have been together and living in this nest for more than 10 years.

Always predators - fox, coyote, GHO, and possibly even an occasional bobcat. They are pretty predator savvy. I'm guessing they have just moved on to another food source.
