Female quail screaming w/ head out of cage.. WTF?

I got 2 containers, an artificial plant, a toy and 2 flowers just because.

I'm going to cut large holes in the container and cut the plant out of the pot. Will update the finished cage soon.

I finished! Had fun doing it too. Quail are exploring and seem to like it. :ya
I hid a few calcium-dusted mealworms around to encourage them to explore.

I'm really happy with the finished hutch. It looks so much better than before.
They are already playing with their new toy and exploring all the hidey holes. :ya
I love seeing them so happy 😊

Thanks @Kiki for putting me on to the fake plants and containers.
Thank you Kiki, @007Sean and @Nabiki for helping me fix their cage and help George.
And thank you to @Whiskybear of course. 😁

Hi y'all :frow

Recently upgraded my cage in size. It is HUGE. I'm planning on adding playground dirt to the top level (in that bit connected to their pine shaving nest). Right now it's just paper towels.

The cage currently houses my three female Jumbos, Hercules, Spot and George.
I'm planning on adding two younger ones, Sugar and Cinnamon in about 5 weeks when they are mature, as long as there isn't more than one male.

Going to grow them some Barley sprouts for foraging, but I have made some DIY foraging toys of my own for them. All of these are visible in the photo except two which they ripped up completely (that's what they are meant to do to get the treats inside). Their favorite by far is their little foam foraging mat and their hanging treat sphere. They love playing with shredded paper, sand and wood shavings. They love their nesting cave, they dust bathe in the wood shavings and just have fun and relax there. It's so cute to watch them explore :love :wee

They have got loads of dark places and hiding spots.
(The cage is now moved to where my last cage was, but is in a different spot for most of the photos ).

I finally got them a satisfactory cage. So proud of myself :celebrate :yesss:

Thanks so much to you all for your help. ♥️

Looks nice. Just out of curiosity, how much do each of your adults weigh? I'm suspecting that whoever sold them to you as jumbos may have been less than honest.

Those are definitely not jumbo weights. Jumbos would weigh about 100 grams more.
250 - 300g is average for an adult jumbo Japanese quail. Regular Coturnix quail only weigh 150-200g. Not to be rude, but I really think you have your mathematical conversions wrong this time.

Do you want me to weigh their eggs too?

This isn't a matter of being rude.
You are not correct.

Where are you getting these numbers from?

That sounds like dressed weights rather than live weights. I used a calculator, so the math should be right. Let's see...

14 oz = 396.893 grams
15 oz = 425.243 grams

Now, those are big jumbos, but they should be an absolute minimum of 300g. Jumbo eggs usually run around 14-17g each.
