feral chickens

I would say the 3 chickens have found a way to breach your security by going over the the fence or under the fence..

I have seen my birds fly to the top of my 10 foot barn with ease.

The breed of the chickens in question are Silver spangled Hamburgs and I don't think there feral..

when I say the base is surrounded by a fence I mean a 10" tall fence with curled barbed wire on top. not exactly something even a determined chicken could easily hop over.

Now the yard fences we have are just your basic 4' chain link, good for most dogs and kids, but anyone who knows anything about chickens knows that is just a small obstacle

So then we have to have someone risking getting in trouble to get a couple chickens for the yard and the chickens then either free ranging on purpose or accident. OR someone got some Easter chicks for the kids and let them go rather then rehoming them when they got uncute. We will probably never know.....

Is it Barbed Wire on top of the fence or is it Concertina Wire/ Dannert Wire?
The reason I as is I have seen Chicken roost on regular Barbed Wire.

I was just going to say that...I think I see three hens. My hamburgs will scratch and range all day. they stop long enough to give me an egg, then back out to the yard. they are the last ones to the roost at night. and to say along with everyone else, they are very flighty....

SSH's can and will fly. Even the military in all it's genius couldn't keep them out.

You might want to call animal control and see if anyone has called to look for their lost chickens....
