Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Robert,  Save your money,  push comes to shove maybe those Mennonite neighbors will have a young person who has been taught to cherish the elderly who can come by to help and later even to live-in.  I have three sons, none married, one mentally ill, all living in diferent places.  I am also 72 and when I get in diapers again I'm selling everything and moving to Mexico.  I lived there for 7 years, understand the culture, speak fluent Spanish and one of my sons lives there.  I'll have a little indian lady take care of me.  Lots of Americans retire there and I will be close to Texas. That's the plan anyway.  : )

Hi Beverly. Sounds like a plan. I have had similar ideas.

(I see that "quote" button is giving you a hard time too. Does the same to me!)

You know? I saw one of my birds do the same thing! They didn't eat it..just walked by, it happened to hop in front of them and one of them grabbed it and thunked it on the ground until it was dead and they just walked on. Very unusual...they usually hoover up what they kill, so I'm wondering if frogs don't taste as good as lizards and snakes? Don't want to get frogenital warts?

Ever notice how a dog foams at the mouth after having a frog or toad in its mouth? It only happens once and they learn. They have something nasty in their skin or urine, I forget which, that wouldn't have effected the chickens right away but does a dog. Defense mechanism. Lizards don't have it but some snakes can let off a nasty smell that causes the predator to drop them.

I have yet to figure out that multiple quote box inside a box thing.......where you quote a person and the quote they quoted in their post....the quote box inside a quote box.....

BC, just hit "multiple" on all the quotes you want to place in your post and then, finally, the quote button after your final "multiple" choice and it should all come up in your reply window.
OK...great....thanks. How does that quote box inside the quote box work?

I say no to my children. Every time I stand in line at the grocery store!! lol Was a time I didn't take them with me just to avoid the tussle-- theydidn't have the internal gizmo to stop asking so I stopped bringing them with me until they did get that "no" was "no". I don't waffle either-- and I explain why, not " because I told you so". The kids have input and I value their opinions. We make decisions together except adult stuff. IF they want me to drive them to an event, then they need to help with the chores to free up my time. If they need a clean uniform for scouts, then get it washed. I do lend a hand with ironing: either with my supervision, or I do it if rushed. WHen we are rushed we all pitch in and divie out the must- do jobs before racing out the door.

It is not my job to give my kids everything. It is my job to give them a moral compass. ANd provide a safe secure home with adequate clothing and good food. IT is my job to help them learn to be self-sufficient. BOth my kids can cook, do dishes, laundry, feed the critters, clean a bird, and bury a bird. BOth my kids are well behaved at school. IF anything they fail to stick up for themselves at school, even to a teacher. THen I need to step in and help guide my kids. I try to teach them stuff is not everything-- having mostly second hand items and still having a great time is rewarding to me.

I can't be sure my kids will be there when I am older-- I hope they do not go far. BUt jobs can be anywhere in the world now.I do find it interesting that my DH family live within an hour o each other by my family is scattered all over the US and don't have( much) contact. We spend TIME with our kids. My kids reflect what I have taught them.

f only the rest of America could mother the way you do we'd have a lot better kids growing up to lead our nation.

Here's a clue...I live in the sticks. Ain't nobody alookin'....

I could sit out here nekked and no one but the chickens, cat and dog to see. In the interest of sparing their sight and good digestion and that of my poor mother, I do not go nekked but it's an option if we so wished.
Hey Bee,

Does your Mom have Medicare Advantage??
