Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

? About fermented feed:

I started a 5 gal bucket. Used layer pellets & kept in indoors (65-70). I stir it everyday & its the consistency of oatmeal. It has a bit of water at the bottom that I mix in everyday before spooning out what I need to feed my flock of 13. They eat it all everyday plus a little scraps & scratch. My husband says it smells bad, rotten even, so I'm concerned. It is starting to turn dark on the top each morning & smells sour. What am I doing wrong or is it OK?

Hi Angel. How long ago did you start your bucket? It sounds okay to me. You don't have to stir it except when you first make it. You need to stir it really good then but I don't stir mine anymore after that - just scoop out what I need. It can smell pretty bad sometimes, some say like vomit. lol There will be some others along soon to help you out. Just check back.

That was hilarious!!! The family LOL'd! Thank you!

Merry Christmas to all. Have a peaceful evening.
