Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Awwwwww! They are adorable!!! So sweet....

I saw that gazebo before and I think it would make such an interesting pen for broodies, growing out roosters or for just separating birds for awhile. Such a cute idea....your hubby is something else with his building things.

I built a chick feeder today for the meaties I'm getting tomorrow..just ten of them....it's only a foot and a quarter long but it's going to be perfect for feeding chicks the FF.

Bee, DH says 'STOP THAT!" He wants you to quit using the old tools for the chickens. He says to send them to him.

How do you store it or do you just ferment what they will eat for a day? I have 7 Chicks aprox 1.5 weeks old and 7 Hens 2 Roos 3 years old. I want to try this but if it cant be stored I dont want to waste by making to much.

Most store it in big containers..5 gal. buckets seem to be the most popular choice and those with big flocks will even ferment in huge trash cans. You can't really make too much..it doesn't spoil or go bad, just stir it each day before you feed to keep the top moistened and refresh it with feed and water when it gets low in the bucket, stir it well and start all over once again. It's very easy.

Yes, the miter box. You broke his heart....

Tell him that it's still useable and I can simply remove all the screws, end caps and legs and put it back to the way it was, good as new! This tough old wood isn't going to change a bit!

No need for it to collect dust until I need mitered cuts on something while it can do double duty as a feeder. I like things that are dual purposed.

Poor guy...I'll put it in my will that it goes to him....
