This is just an example of how much my birds love the FF ! They follow me around and practically jump atop the FF bucket when they know it's feeding time !! I have three white buckets and they know which one holds the FF. LOL !

Look about right, once they have it the first time I am sure they could find it if you shipped it to China

TIC mine isn't meat birds OR layers yet. Mine are chicks just about 4 months old now. They've been on FF for quite some time now. Maybe since May or the starting of June can't remember which.

When threads get this long they tend to digress and morph. This has become a FF thread for all your birds. My birds love it and I have it down so I can do it without much difficulty. My legs were mangled in a wreck and have difficulties walking and carrying but I can still manage this.

I'm sure it is nothing compared to what you went through and have to deal with 24/7 but some days I have a little trouble getting around but chickens have got me out of the house more and give me something enjoyable to think about and do. I'm glad you made it through the wreck and are here to talk to us!

May I ask a question? I have been reading though the thread. Wondering if your information is predominantly related to meat birds only? I know some people feed fermented to layers also. Just wondering if the information in THIS thread, when you talk about your experiences, is about meat birds.

I've only had a flock since spring, but I've fed it to all my birds since the second week they were here. Meat, layer, cockerels and ducks, and they ALL love it! I have noticed a difference between our existing flock and new birds. The color and condition of feathers, energy level of the birds, and more importantly over all health.

Just wanted to stop in and say what I decided to do with the random meat bird that had gleet. I decided to go ahead and treat him, not because he has any real value but because in the future I may have a bird of value that I'd like to treat and wanted to use this guy as my guinea pig. Any way, I didn't have any Nustock (but got my local feed store to order it) so I used this stuff, Shapley's MTG Plus, instead that I use on my horses it's sulfer based, made up a new batch of fermented feed and upped the ACV in the water, separated him, and 3 days later he looks like nothing was ever wrong. Kept him in for 2 more days just to be sure, marked him so I would be sure he was out of the running in the "last rooster standing contest" and if I hadn't marked him I wouldn't be able to tell you who he was.

I have no clue which of the 3 things "cured" him but now everyone is on FF every day (though they also have free access to crumble because I have no clue how much to actually feed them and they are only 5 weeks old), and I have now made up batches of ADV with mother still intact.

This site is part of the Natural Farming Movement. I am pretty sure that the LAB bacteria raised in their method are mostly the same species as the bacteria found in FF. I really like all the stuff that they show on that site. I want to experiment through my students with things like fermented plant juice and other homemade "fertilizers" using their methods.

But as for my chickens, I find FF to be way easier. Just feed out, add more plus water, repeat. It can't get any easier than that. If I had pigs, I would ferment the feed just like the chicken feed and add that to their diet of food waste. But I might make extra LAB to spray on their kukae, since pig kukae is extra hauna. For the chickens, deep littering and FF takes care of the kukae pretty well unless you have too many chickens.
