Fermenting feed - how long to leave in trough

Hi all,

Chicks are coming today and all is set and ready to go. I am so excited!!!

I was wondering how long I should leave the fermented feed in the chick trough feeder before dumping it and adding fresh. I added 1 cup and a half so its not filled all the way up. Also, should I dump and refill the water mason jars with Nurtridrench daily too?

I leave the fermented food indefinitely as long as its not soiled with shavings, poop, etc. Ive found that it gets packed down and hard after a few hours, so after that I break it up into crumbles so its easier for them to eat. I also leave the top part of the trough off because Im afraid someone will get their heads stuck and break a neck.

YEA, they are here and besides two with pasty butt or just poop around their tush, all are well, I think! They love the yogurt fermented organic chick starter! I plan to move to pine bedding soon.
