"Fess Up Everyone, How Many Eggs A Day Do You Really Eat?

Good question here at back to basics I eat 3 maybe 4 eggs everyday in the morning. I usually cook 3 more for egg-salad sandwhich, during the day, I usually do it in the morn while while I'm fixing breakfast after chores. So answer 5 or 6.

Our girls are 23 weeks old and yesterday laid 13 eggs for us. I eat one egg every morning (so that's at least 7 there). Our two dogs each get 1 egg in their breakfast (so that's another 14/week) My boys each have 3 scrambled pullet sized eggs every morning (so that's 21 more) And my husband will have a 2-3 over easy or omelet once or twice a week (at most he'll go through 6 in a week)

That brings our total to about 4 DOZEN A WEEK

Here's a Harvard study I just read a couple days ago about the affects of eating one egg/day.

Actually this is a myth put out by pharmaceutical companies trying to sell cholesterol drugs. For one thing dietary cholesterol will not raise blood cholesterol --my DW , who eats as few as 3 and as many as 6 eggs per day had a very low cholesterol count last time she was tested. Second there is a lot of research out there that seems to show cholesterol is not the culprit it seems to be but may be necessary for good health, especially in the real young and real old humans. Unfortunately the egg raising industry never got behind this research. There are a large amount of research that was done on cholesterol that "proved" what the researchers want to prove by ignoring anything that seemed to contradict them.

The same thing is true about dietary fat, BTW.

Also eggs--the whole thing nor just the whites--are an excellent source of protein to increase brain development and should be in the diet of young children whose brains are growing. Eggs can make you smarter.

If there is anything that can harm one from eating eggs it may be what you are cooking them in, specifically margarine or oleo, that stuff can kill you. Use butter or lard or bacon fat.

We don't eat much eggs as they are expensive, they are $3-5 a dozen, I have 7 people in the house... We are starting to get eggs from the girls so that should help increase our egg consumption to everyday or at least a few times a week( we have 6 hens just laying).

about 12-16 a week - I am vegetarian, eggs are a great source of protein for me. Some days I'll have 3-4 eggs, some only 1-2. My cholesterol levels are excellent, lower than I ever expected. My doc asked about my diet too....

. My dogs each get an egg or two a week. Usually I give about 3-4 dozen a month away to friends/neigbors
