Fighting sour crop

I couldn’t figure out how to get the coconut oil into his mouth because it started turning into oil almost as soon as I would put it on my finger.

I like to soak crumble in the coconut oil, miconazole too, they gobble it right up.
Way less stressful for us both.

I haven’t had a case of sour crop that could be cured with treatment, so I would defer to others. Most had reproductive disorders.

That’s a good idea. I’m going to try that, I’m fixing to get his breakfast fixed up & the whole time I was dreading having to figure out a way to get him wrapped up & medicine in him.

I should’ve seen this coming. I knew he was going to wind up with some type of crop issue. If it’s genetic, I can’t help but wonder what else he has going on inside his little body.

I've had quite a few with crop problems, but it's *never* been a yeast infection, never, it's always been something in the intestines, repro infection, or cancer.

If a vet is an option I recommend consulting with them since they have the ability to verify if it's a fungal or bacterial infection. If it's either, they will have the proper medications to treat him

True. I’m going to get in touch with the avian vet in just a bit. I hate that he is alone in his tub & need him to get better.

He might have worms, a bacterial infection, coccidiosis, Marek's, or cancer. There might be some yeast in his crop, but just yeast in the crop I suspect is very rare.

Oh gosh He came from McMurray’s & was vaccinated for coccidiosis, could he still get infected with that later on as he ages? In the mornings, before I’ve had time to let my emotions get the best of me, I can’t help but wonder if I’m just prolonging the inevitable & this is just the tip of the iceberg if there’s more going on.

Don't make yourself crazy, one trip to the vet and they can test for coccidiosis, worms, bacteria, and yeast.

I did a couple days with CO and massage of impaction,
then a week of miconazole with this girl.
Took about 3-4 days before she was having good poops.
She still has a bit of a pendulous crop, but moves stuff thru just fine.
