I just put 9 Ancona duck eggs in my LG 10200. The temps were holding solid at 100 for the 2 days leading up to eggs going in, and did the drop to 99 when I put the eggs in. I waited 5 hours & it came up to 100 but after an hour there went to 102. I turned it down, and think I caught it pretty much right away. I adjusted it just a touch about 30 min. ago & am trying not to touch it again. Am I ok, do you think? Please sya "yes", its really all I want to hear. I am trying not to over-love them. Humidity is holding steady. It is still air, so I read 101 is better for the little quackers, should I have left it alone?

Stitch, didn't you set your eggs last Friday (June 3)? Or did you set on Thursday?

How are you counting your days? Because I thought I read that you don't count the day you set, so that would make Saturday, June 4 Day One, and would make today DaySix.

I'd like to make sure I'm counting days right so I know when to bump the humidity and go into lockdown!

The eggs arrived Wednesday morning, so I set them at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Day 1 would have been over 10 a.m. on Thursday. I didn't expect the eggs to get here until Thursday, so it was a pleasant surprise when they arrived wednesday.

For those, like Stitch, that are worrying through the night about temp spikes this is what I have done. I got a probe thermometer for cooking meat. It has an alarm on it and I set the alarm for 102 deg. If at any time I get a spike in temp I am alerted to it right away. The beeping is very loud and wakes me if I am sleeping. I no longer check the temp constantly, I do still glance at it if I walk past the bator.

Temp should be 101.5 at the top of the eggs in a still air.

OK, so that's why you're 2 days ahead of me. I was worried I was counting wrong.

I moved my eggs that I was unsure of over to one carton, and unfortunately, I think I have 2 quitters. I had 2 that I thought I saw veining in, but now I'm not sure, so I moved them over with the other 6 questionables. I have 5 RIR eggs that appear to be developing more quickly than the others, either that, or their shells are just easier to see through, as all 5 of the RIR have moving chicks in them! It was so neat to see the little guys moving around in there, even if they are little more than a dark shadow with an eye.

So, to date, 8 eggs are questionable, 18 are developing.

it's there & holding steady after for about an hour. i think i caught it right away, and the adjustment seems to be staying right where it should be. thanks. hope i didn't cook my little quackers.

I think you're okay. You caught it right away and readjusted it. From what I have been reading for chicken eggs you can go as low as 95 degrees and as high as 102 as long as you adjust it when you notice it and don't leave it too high or low for long periods of time like two or three days.

thank you so much. (thanks to everyone on this forum! what a gift!) i have done so much research i feel a bit overwhelmed. LG is still holding steady, even despite the thunder storms here. (my garden was thrilled for the rain.)

most LG 10200 are forced air, but mine's a loaner & my friend took the fan out. its doing well so far, and i'm trying to just relax.

tough, this first timer's syndrome. good luck with your incoming storm... they're rolling around up here, but staying down the mountain/ thank goodness.
