Filling the incubator 6-3-2011 Join me for my 1st attempt?

No pips or zips for me.. First hatch going badly. BUT I am saving up eggs for my second hatch! SO

on my next one!

I hatched one more RIR, so I'm up to 4 of 11 at the end of day 21. I lost one today that I tried to help after it started to shrink wrap, but it didn't make it.

That was a bummer. I still have 6 eggs left, and they are totally silent. I'm going to give them a couple more days.

So my hatch is done. At the end I have a PolishXWelsummer, Houdan/PolishXCuckoo Marans, and 3 BCM chicks. I'm also not sure what's going to happen with one of the BCM chicks as I had to help it hatch out as well. He's alert but his feathers seem really matted. Wondering if I should wash him?

well im still at 1 chick running around peeping at the rest of the eggs we went out tonight when we got home we have another pip so we have a bunch of pips now one thats been working on zipping its shell most of the day and the rest of the pips arent doing much yet im hopeing that they decide to hurry up a little i want to see them little fuzzbutts becides i dont want to try to put just 1 chick in the brooder it would be to lonely

We're at ten chicks hatched, and that's probably all that will hatch, I think: the last one started to zip last night, then quit. This evening he started peeping very loudly, but wasn't turning in the egg; I threw common sense aside and helped him out of his egg. Another rough navel but otherwise I can't see why he couldn't hatch. Unless he's another one with funky legs, like the "penguin" from my first hatch. I can't tell yet; he's too new and clumsy.

I plan to eggtopsy the failed eggs in a few days. I pulled one out today and checked it, and found that it had quit while in the process of drawing in its yolk. Sad. Odds are the other nine "too quiet" eggs are the same way. I wish I knew whether this was due to the temperature variations that I've been griping about, or something else. <sigh>

well i can see the beaks of 2 of the pips trying to zip but i dont know seems like these guys have been trying sence about 6 am to get out they are taking there time the chick thats in with them keeps running back and forth between them like its telling them to come out and play ive got 3 more eggs rocking now but not sure if its the little chick running around and makeing them rock well maybe them power outages we had are slowing down the hatch some the little chick seems almost like it wants to come out to see us every time we look in the window it runs ober to look back at us and if theres a egg in the way no problem just push thru it lol

at lockdown had this

6 WLRC eggs
0 EE's eggs were all unfertile
11 Jimmies
1 mixed unknown breeds

Hatched
5 WLRC eggs
0 EE's eggs 0
8 Jimmies last one is still zipping with some help
1 mixed unknown breeds Not sure if this one is going to make it has crooked beak and one eye that don't look right, also can not stand yet.

This is my last hatch at this time, I now have a total of 15(7 hens ) out in my coop, 14 in my big brooder and 13 in my little brooder with 1 still in bator. I still am not sure how many of the ones in the brooder are hens but with my luck I will have more rooters than hens it both the brooders. So I am going to give them all time to grow so I can know what I have, I want hens not roosters, I don't have a freezer to put meat birds in at this time.

well im not at final count yet ive got 3 so far it was almost 22 hrs between chick1 and the 2nd chick then about a half yr later i got chick 3 ive got a 4th chick thats been working on its egg sence midnight and 3 more that have piped sence then but the 3 chicks have been rolling the eggs all over the inside of the incubator its been a really long weekend so far im hopeing that the chicks hurry up im thinking that all the power outages we had are the reason behind the later slower hatch but im happy about the out come so far
