I have only one on day 18 today. My others won't lock down until next tuesday. I made a little stand with a paper towel tube to keep the air cell upright. I think that's what did my last hatch in. I'm bummed that this is my only baby hatching now. It's going to be lonely.

So I left the turner in but took out one of the trays to put the lockdown egg somewhere. I will turn off the turner after I see a pip so the baby doesn't get hurt. I guess it will be alone for about a week before my EE's decide to hatch.

I candled last night and had 6 more that have quit at some point in the three weeks. I started with 47, lost a grand total of 29, there are only 18 left, but 2 of the quitters were not fertile at all along with a few of the others.
This is what I started with:

11 WLRC eggs
14 EE's eggs
12 Jimmies
10 mixed unknown breeds

and this is what is left:

6 WLRC eggs
0 EE's eggs
11 Jimmies
1 mixed unknown breeds

The good thing is that I only paid $1.20 to $1.30 for the doz eggs. The 12 that are "Jimmies" are from her coop, SO I think for next time I might buy some from her. This is the worst eggs that I have gotten from the Auction since I have been getting eggs for hatching. The good thing is I am not out a bunch of money. One dozen eggs is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying full grown hens at $2.00 and up.
So I have to wait to have home grown eggs here at my place but I think it is well worth the wait.

I have wasted a LOT of money on these. What auction site are you using wowmanacat? I don't see eggs that cheap here usually. I am SUPER bummed about the amount of money I have put into eggs/chickens this year. If I had just bought chicks from someone I would have saved SOOO MUCH!! Now I have chicks I didn't want to keep and haven't been able to sell... including roosters.. It seems my local area wants bantums, silkies and laying hens.. none of which I have to sell now. blah

We have a local county auction that is close to us were I get my eggs. I have heard to much bad about shipped eggs that I don't get any. I live in AR BTW

Checked the eggs this morning and it's day 20 and we have one pip so far. Can't wait to see the baby!!!

i cant wait till wed night thursday morning thats when my eggs go into lock down and then we wait for them to hatch but now im waiting for the chickens i have now to start laying its going to be really interesting to see what my chicken really are the feed store i got my chicks from said they are jersey giant pullets but one of my pullets is a roo that looks like a black copper maran hes only 8 weeks old now and he came out of the same bin as the rest of my chickens so i guess ill have to wait and see but looks like im going to go out looking for some jersey giant eggs to hatch out my self cause i really was looking forward to them big chickens

I went into lockdown yesterday and again today with another set of eggs and the ones due to hatch 22 one has already pipped a hole! hes two days early lol im starting to enjoy setting my eggs by the moon im having an increase in hatching them out ^_^
