Filling the incubator 6-3-2011 Join me for my 1st attempt?

well i took a long nap and still just the one chick so far the one the pip this morning still nothing no other pips yet but still hopeing the one chick is still peeping in there hopeing it gets the other ones started really soon

we just checked them again have 2 more pips but not sure if its the eggs trying to hatch out or the baby one rolling them into each other

Well I am up to 5 hatched, but the last one has a crooked beak, not really bad so I hope that it will make it. This was the only eggs that was left from the mixed lot that I got. I have seen ones with really bad ones. I know for sure that one of the eggs died for it pipped into it own yolk sac. Got two more that is pipped that I can see and one that is working on zipping very slowly. I hope there will be more later and through the night.

well heres how i tryed this hatchi did a dry hatch the humity in it was around 35 to 45% the whole time at lock down i up the humity to 75 to 78% as this was my first hatch i went by what i had read to try i put 12 eggs into lock down so far i have 4 pips and one chick thats running around in the batorbut im hearing alot more peeping than just the one chick so ive got my fingers crossed hopeing for a good hatch ill keep everyone posted on how they are doing

I am getting ready to reload now going to try a full batch this time

my final results...this was my first attempt to incubate.

started with 22 eggs
3 infertile
2 quit day 4

lockdown with 17 eggs, 16 moving when candled

hatch was 6 healthy chicks who hatched on their own
3 healthy chicks that i helped hatch out
1 self-hatcher with umbilical hernia that didn't make it
1 quit after pipping and partial zipping
for a total of 9 alive and healthy

eggtopsied the 6 left in the bator
1 quit about day 14
5 made it to day 20 and were fully formed but never internally pipped or drew in their yolk sacs

i am baffled about what happened at the end. no temp swings of more than one degree, humidity steady at 60-70%, and darnit they got to the very end and quit. i want to try again and do better but am not sure what to change. the eggs were shipped but i don't see how that would be a factor when they made it to day 20. what could it be? i should have had an amazing first hatch...16 out of 19 eggs (i don't count the infertiles against myself) and something happened. anyone have any idea what it might be?

ps-i am incredibly thankful for 9 perfect babies!

Well, I lock down on Tuesday for my EE's. I checked last night and only tossed 1. I have 14 that are looking very good out of the 30 I started with. If they all hatch I'll be happy. They shipped all the way from Michigan to Florida so I would say that nearly 50% would be good

I'll keep you posted
