Finally caught the offending amphibian

Can the regular toads interbreed with these poisonous ones? I didn't know about these . . .they are one of Mother Nature's creations, but WHY? I think the same thing about termites, mosquitoes and head lice, but they are still here!!! He was a BIG boy, some widder' toad is out there pining for her hubby!!! Ha!! Just kidding!!

Nothing causes more death, destruction, waste, and extinction than humans, if mother nature had to take a creation back, it probably be humans. Self serving destroyers of plant earth! Not trying to be rude but it's true. "Life must be some where to be found, instead concrete jungle, where the living is harder." Bob Marley.

its a defense for the toad so unless you harrass them they won't hurt you(altho the toad in this case was brought to this country by humans) most dogs would probably smell something incorrect and not bother the toad but.....

I thought the same thing when I read this thread! Pythons, iguanas, now cane toads. I've heard about Australia's blight with these suckers, but now they're here? Wow, invasive species absolutely suck! Fireants, africanized honey bees, pythons, iguanas(not so bad in my opinion, but invasive nonetheless), hogs, cats, starlings, sparrows, pigeons, other more tropical birds and now cane toads!

I had a couple of these guys for pets back in college i line in northern Mn no no issues with them if the got out they would freeze. Wow talk about a mouth i would feed them weekly a mouse or a small rat. They were pretty cool loud when they sounded off but they were part of my collection that i got rid of when they kick me outa of the dorms for having pets other then fish lol:lau

There are many, many dogs who die in FL because of the Cane or Bufo toads. Like I said, I hated to destroy it. I have no idea if they will breed with an American toad, I hope not. But they are large enough that I would think they're taking a lot of the naturalized toad's food supply away from them. I hope I don't find anymore on the place because I hate being put in a position to make a choice I'm against.

Florida really isn't all that bad. Sure, we have our critters that are a pain, but all in all, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, IMO.

Wow, I had no idea cane toads were in the USA. I thought they were Austrailias' problem...What about giant snakes? You ever have a problem with those yet? I met a guy driving through down to Florida to hunt giant snakes as they were an epidemic down there right now...

I'm the same way, but trust me you did the right thing. Cane toads are nasty, nasty things. Just ask the poor Australians.
