Finally caught the stray Min Pin - new pics

Such great news about adorable little Prissy! I'm sure Scarlett loves having a little canine sister very much too.

I'm in love with your house, especially that brick floor. How old is your house... and when are you going to sell it to me? Or we can do a house swap.

I have a min pin too! She came from the SPCA. A friend of mine works there and this dog was literally on its last legs. She had been adopted and returned twice. My friend asked if I would give her a try, before they put her down.

The first night she bit me on the left side of my face. Still have the scar. My fault really- this dog was soooo stressed and I made the mistake of coming too close way too soon.

Long story short. After time and patience she has turned out to be a delight. She now weighs 9 lbs, and loves to sleep under the covers too. Is the protector of all things. Loves to chase chickens.

Both of my dogs are adopted.

People are just nuts. Disposable animals! Sheesh.

I agree about the microchipping- both of mine are.

Sorry to hijack!

Min pins are awesome!

Hi Jean, no best I can hope for is that Scarlett learns from Rex. His genes will die with him. We had him neutered just before we moved here - long story as to why but I never wanted to - and who knew we would end up living in the country.

Scarlett and Prissy are both going to the vet to be fixed this month. I think Prissy is already having her first heat. She keeps backing up to everything and putting her butt up.

Never had a female dog in heat but she only did it a couple of days so I don't know. The vet had said small dogs start earlier - at 6 months or so - and large dogs like Scarlett may wait till 10 months. But because they play so rough and tough together we thought we'd get them done at the same time that way they'll leave each other alone for a bit to recuperate.

OOOHHHH!! I am SO happy that you rescued her!!
Here is some pics of my main man.....

Here he is with his lady friends( she is a rescued chihuahua, her name is baby) on the first day she was home.

She is the best. As far as "too big" she only weighed 9 pounds when we found her. She weighs a lot more now but isn't any bigger. She's not nearly as big as my MIL's or Daughter's purebred minpins - but their dogs are also really fat. My MIL's minpin can barely walk up or down stairs and if it goes out for a walk it's huffing and puffing after just a few minutes but of course her dog is older.

Prissy just flys up and down the stairs and runs for balls for hours without getting tired. She will run back with the ball and bark if you don't throw it again fast enough for her. You should see her and Rex playing fetch. She outruns Rex and then barks if he gets the ball first. It has really been good for Rex to have Scarlett and Prissy running after "his" balls because he used to be really aggressive about those darn balls, still is to an extent but he has learned to share and let them play.

So while she's not as big as most people I know's Minpins, most of their dogs seem to have a weight problem. Is that specific to the breed or does everyone just overfeed them and not exercise them? Prissy doesn't stop running and playing all day long. If she and Scarlett aren't chasing each other all over the farm, she's begging to play ball, or she just does a few run-bys on the chickens - constant energy in motion.

Ruth how wonderful of you to save Prissy! And you dont have to live on a farm for people to do abandon animals. I live on a main street and someone pulled up to the corner and threw (yes threw) out a doxie mix. We took him in and he is a wonderful addition to our zoo. Please keep us updated on how prissy is doing.
