Finally decided and ordered my chicks today

Those babies are soooo cute. I'm trying to be very very patient here. I enjoy seeing all the pics of everyone elses chickens big and little.

Here the Australorps are at just over 5 weeks old. (It is the same group in the chick picture that I posted on this thread last night.) They are getting such pretty black feathers. The pictures don't do them justice, really. They are good chicks so far. I know you will enjoy yours.

You can see the rooster in the front with the red comb. We have 8 hens and a rooster named Bossman.

Here is our favorite girl with my daughter. She named this one Sweetie. They have been good with her.

I'm just curious as to where you ordered them. This year will be my first time ordering from a hatchery. Ideal were sold out for a while so I found a couple others. I finally chose Welp. I, to, have to wait until June to get my chicks.

I also have another quick question. My sons all want crested polish...How hard are they to take care of and what are their temperaments?

My husband ordered ours from McMurray. He went in with a couple of friends to meet the 25 chick minimum. It was the only hatchery they were aware of at the time. I am pleased with our chicks because all lived and all are as healthy as can be. I have since discovered that some other hatcheries are cheaper and have cheaper shipping rates, but we were pleased with McMurray's chicks. Every single one of the Australorps has lived and been healthy for just over 5 weeks so far.

I ordered some from Cackle Hatchery that went out in the mail today (a couple of different kinds.) I am hoping that I am as pleased with the chicks they send. We will see in a few days...
