Today is the first time in a bit that we were able to work on the coop and run. I know it doesn't look like much right now but by tomorrow the run will be finished. It seems each time we mention putting the tin roof on that the wind strts to blow. maybe tomorrow it won't. I'll post more pics tomorrow. Here are a few from today.......................
Here 1 side was finished and Alex was packing the dirt around the fence
Here Wayne was digging postholes for the 4x4's
Here Alex felt "Macho" by holding the brace
Here is a couple pics of the run while in braces till tomorrow
And heres a pics of a hole we dug that started to fill with water and was a 1/4 of the way full by the time we got the post and the cement ready.....
Here in Southside VA we got between 3 1/2 and 4 inches of rain during a strom we had on the 8th.
Oh my, look at that lovely dirt you have to dig in. Mine is riddled with rocks, at least fist size or bigger. I dread digging the holes for the run posts!
Oh well, it's gotta be done. And it doesn't matter where in the yard I want to put the run, no matter what, we're up against what the glaciers left us
I had the same issue with half my post holes filling with water before I was through digging them. It's like I hit a vein and water would trickle in. So, instead of mixing my quickcrete in a wheel barrow I just poured the bag in around the post and mixed it with the water that was already there.
I live in Spotsylvania,VA we had alot of rain also and all of my holes filled with water. I wanted to work on my coop and run today, but it's been raining all day.
I'm ok with time. My girls will be delivered in mid June.
