In the Brooder
New to chickens almost one year. I have 6, rehomed one bully last year. I have a golden laced Wyandotte, a grey orpington mix, a buff orpington, a white/caramel EasterEgger, a grey/gold EasterEgger, a Welsummer.
They live in the "Chicken Mansion" with the "canasta light" that comes on in the evening during daylight savings time. We have a sand bottom with a linoleum poop catcher in the coop and use leaf and/or grass mulch in the pen depending on the season. I feed them alternating Kalmbach Organic Layer feed or Scratch and Peck Organic Layer feed. They like best if I ferment the Kalmbach for 3 days before feeding it to them. Their water is laced with organic apple cider vinegar and garlic to keep down the parasites.
I have a vegetable garden which I partially grow for the hens as they like arugula as much as me and my husband.
We also have a sweet rabbit hound named Natasha that the chickens love and play chase with around the pen.
