Finished the new duck coop err pen orrrr whatever its called?

Hardware cloth..got it now I get to go return my chicken wire! yea there is a large vent in the top of the box (unfinished) but I will add some more. As far as predators we dont really have any, never seen anything around and when there is something in the backyard (such as a neighbors cat) our chocalate lab Corona runs out the dog door to escort it out of the yard :)
Watch the Lab!! i have a Red Lab and he got a hold of out mallard :( lets just say she didnt live....RIP Mally

yeaaaaaa my lab is not a real lab....looks like a chocalate lab but acts like a little lap dog. Doesnt really chase things, doesnt like to swim, not to keen on playing fetch and very well behaved so after a couple days im sure she will be just fine :) but thanks for the tip

Don't ever feel that confident please. I have had ducks for 9 yrs and dogs for alot longer, my 3 yr old dachshund who has been raised around ducks. chickens and geese just killed one of our ducklings last week, it can happen in the blink of an eye. .

Yea I just mean with supervised visitation she will be fine... the dog and ducks will never share the backyard unless I am there

You will be surprised at by how much feed they will go through! I had 6 chicks and 3 ducks... I figured a 20 lb bag would last about 3 or 4 weeks... nope I had to buy a 50 lb bag two weeks later... and most of it was the ducks!!

I love pallet coops and yours is a little beauty! Really cute. I want it, LOL.

I wouldn't put gravel on the inside - what I'd do is line the bottom and a few inches up the sides with linoleum or some kind of waterproof flooring and then put your bedding (pine shavings or whatever) on top of that. The smooth floor will make it a breeze to turn the litter and also to rake it out. And it will protect the floor.

Just keep your water outside the coop - keep their food in the coop so it stays dry. If you are shutting them in the coop at night without water then take away the food as well. They can go without food and water overnight when they are fully grown. Ideally, though, you could build a little predator-proof water porch off the side with a mesh floor and have their night-time water sitting on that. Then the house won't get wet.

yea the gravel is just in the run area...actually the current flooring inside the coop is some left over cork laminate flooring...I might put some left over rubber gym mat on top of that to make cleaning even easier. There little pond/tub will be in the gravel area as far away from the coop as possible. havent really figured out where to put the food at just yet. As I said before still kinda winging it! thanks for the advice though!! :)

I think I used 7? Two of them were heavy duty machinery pallets so I got most of the coop portion just from that but I did disassemble them first instead of using the pallet whole will take a few more pictures when I finish it completely tomorrow!
