fireworks ban

I did not know this. I thought they were legal just by passing all the warehouses.... Interesting facts..thanks.

With all the rain we've had here in Montgomery, they decided to lift the ban. Had it not rained, a good friend of my family wouldn't be making the extra money they need right not.

This is a very interesting post. Here in England fireworks are not banned and can be bought in lots of convenience stores and garden centres from October to the middle of November. They can be bought by anyone aged over 18, in theory. In fact lots of teenagers below this age buy them quite openly. They often use them in inappropriate ways such as lighting them and throwing them, or putting them through people's letter boxes. When I worked in a large high school, someone threw a lit firework along a crowded corridor at change of lessons!

I hate them, and I think they should be banned except for display purposes. They terrify elderly people and animals and they can cause damage. My daughter lost her car windscreen to a rocket and a neighbour lost two panes of glass in her conservatory roof. Despite repeated complaints the Government is very half hearted about doing anything, their latest effort to control the nuisance is to ban them after 11 o'clock at night. Needless to say, no one polices that particular law!

Missouri is over flowing with fireworks.Drive down most state border road/hwy and you will see last chance signs for people to buy them before they leave MO.
We have huge warehouse stores along major hwys....
So no ban here nor do I see one anytime soon.

I fraking hate fireworks. Sure, they are pretty and go BOOM, but it scares the pants off the dogs. All it takes is one POW from a firework (and we all know the nutheads who set them off never do just one) and the dogs are shaking like leaves and hiding under furniture that they can't actually fit under. So many broken lamps and scratched up arms from frantic dogs. If they are put in their crate, they claw and claw and claw until they rip a nail and then they bleed everywhere. Drugging them on 4th of July is a MUST, and even then it doesn't do much good before they work themselves into a frenzy. Strange that gunshots and thunder do not elicit the same reaction.

I. Hate. Fireworks.

If you are in an area where dry conditions make outdoor fires dangerous then it makes sense to have a temporary ban on fireworks along with campfires, brush fires, trash fires, and the like. Right now in Florida it's county by county on burn bans. We've recently, as in the last week, started to get rain so some counties are lifting their bans. Others may not have gotten around to it yet.

If your area isn't experiencing dry conditions then I'm in favor of being allowed to have fireworks. You are still responsible for their safe use however.

Here in my town we had a ban on any fireworks then where shot or made a loud band. Well the smart city council lifted that ban

so this year we get at least 2 weeks worth of loud fire crackers and nuts throwing them every where. I have a dog that will work himself up pretty good. My oldest grand daughter hates loud noises so this should be a real fun weekend for me not. I used to love the 4th of July but now it does not mean what it did when I was a kid. Just an excuse for people to get drunk and shoot fire works off. Yea will safe around here.

Fireworks are illegal to set off in Maryland, but the warehouses can sell them to out of state residents. I believe the same is true in Pennsylvania because across the state line are warehouses that everyone from this area goes to. We are less than 15 mins to the state line.
I love fireworks but hate them in my neighborhood (animals, fires etc...). I wish that there was a way for law enforcement to enforce the ban, but it would be almost impossible. So here we are, coming in to the July 4th season, which begins about now and will continue until all the fireworks are set off. Hopefully the kid behind me didn't have as much money this year and doesn't buy many

my parents haven't done fireworks since we set the neighbors yard on fire when I was a kid.

the past two years I have gone to friends houses where they do fireworks though.

Some years I can't handle it. The noise leaves me a nervous wreck.

Legal here in IN, illegal 30 minutes away in IL. I think our law says you can set them off from 6/29 to 7/9. Something like that, there is a set time frame. However, for the past week, we've had someone setting off what sounds like dynamite.

eta: I can't stand the noise. I don't mind the pretty, big ones we see from the neighboring towns, but they are far enough away that the noise doesn't bother me.
