First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

I have chicks......Yes, with an 's'! Well, it's just two...... but I hatched them! MY VERY FIRST! I guess it is a BCM since it has feathers on it's shanks, Wellies aren't featherlegged, are they?
Congratulations!!!!!

Awesome Wisher! I'm dancing with you!

I'm happy with my hatch too. I ended up hatching 16 turkeys, though had to put one down that had a badly twisted neck. The 14 Iowa Blues are tutoring away and every one is getting along smashingly. I just love the little turkey toots and whistles

I have a fuzzy little slate that follows my hand around anytime I reach in the tank.

That's him in the middle. I've got a couple slate, several black and a various mottled brown ones. It will be so much fun to watch them grow!

Go Kari, go Kari, go Kari, go Kari...... still dancing! Breathe, Breathe, Breathe........

The little chickies hatching under the broody are all different colors. They came from a mixed flock and I can't WAIT to see what they are going to look like! The first one I saw was yellow with grayish undertones. I was so surprised! All the eggs were dark brown Wellie and Marans eggs. They are in a mixed flock so it should be interesting. I have already called the breeder and told her to make sure to come see them when they get a bit older!

I have chicks......Yes, with an 's'! Well, it's just two...... but I hatched them! MY VERY FIRST! One is from my friend's Wellsummers (or BCM's not sure which) and the other is from one of my favorite chickens' eggs (she is a little SLW/Campine mix.) I still have a bunch in the bator, I'm going to leave them a while, just in case. I still have 20 under a broody, due tomorrow, and I had another hen go broody on Friday and yesterday I gave her 25 guinea eggs! You can't imagine how excited I am over those two chicks, I love the sound of them chirping in the other room and suspect these will stay inside in the brooder WAY longer than necessary and will be quite spoiled! Woot!
I candled to see if I could toss any last night (ready to give up) and pulled five before I got to one with movement. I put it back and noticed a pip. It was 11:00pm and I went to bed. When I woke up at 5:45am, I heard chirping and nearly didn't make it to the bathroom! LOL! I guess it is a BCM since it has feathers on it's shanks, Wellies aren't featherlegged, are they? It ran to my hand when I pulled them out. The humidity was so high that they weren't drying so I put them under a light.
Been a good week for you! Congrats!

It's easy to tell BCMs and Wellies apart. Think penguins and chipmunks.

Yeay--I'm so happy for you!!!!

I love my mixed birds. Fun colors. Muffs from the EE parents, or leg feathers from the marans. So many, many colors, I rarely have two pullets alike. Hope you enjoy your chickies just as much.
