First duck egg!

Went out to do the morning chores and found this gem in the middle of run! Somehow my boys walked right past it lol but it's the first thing I saw lol

Is the first duck egg safe to eat??

Congratulations! The first egg is very exciting!! I've never heard that the first egg isn't safe to eat, we ate ours.

Some people wash their eggs, some people don't. I don't, and I store mine unwashed. Look up the pros and cons and if you decide to wash make sure to use appropriate temperature of water.

Thanks guys!! So exciting hopefully which ever ducky didn't lay this one will start soon

We store our chicken eggs unwashed and then rinse in warm water right before cracking. So I think I will do the same with the duck egg(s).
