First egg at a young age...

I got my first egg from one of my hatchery "Ameraucanas"... I was taken aback as she is barely even 5 months old... I have never had a hen lay before they were at least 6 months in age... Should I be concerned?

Most of my birds started around four months. That's relatively young for an Easter egger, but I wouldn't be concerned.

That is early.....doubt there's reason for concern tho....unless bird seems unhealthy or in distress.

But curiosity makes me wonder if your EE cross has a high production in it's background..... or got mixed up at hatch.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

That sounds on par with some. My BR were laying by 20 weeks. For me ALL of the EE I have had were inconsistent layers.

Don't they know how excited I am to collect an array of colorful eggs?!
