First Egg Countdown

We got our first egg yesterday afternoon after a 22 week long wait. It came from our BO/BSL hen, "Golden Star". I'm guessing my lavender orp will be next followed by our silkie.

It happened!! It finally happened!! Just now! One of my Cinnamon Queens laid this little beauty just a day shy of 23 weeks! This is my first egg ever! I can't remember the last time I was so excited, I'm making more noise than she did!! And also I would like to wish a hearty congratulations to everyone else who got their first eggs recently, it means a lot more once you have experienced the same thing!

I've just boiled 6 peewee eggs to make into deviled eggs. Should look cute on the platter. I'll take a pic before taking them to my friends' house for happy hour.

Lol, can we see a picture?
Congratulations on your eggs ladies and gents and all the laughs I get every day from you all!

My husband thinks I am nuts, so now I tell him all about our egg countdowns. I found a gross looking yolk like someone had cracked an egg open for an over easy breakfast on the poop board this morning. The *shell* had dried in the air enough that I could pick it up and it had a dangley umbilical cord looking thing attached. 6 inches from that was a cute almost cream tiny normal egg. Could it have been a double oopsy syndrome *didn't make it to the nest* kind of thing from one layer? And they get more than enough calcuim. I am waiting for egg #4 or # 5 to see if it is going to brown or mint green so I can guess who it was.

I just realized the only egg song I get is from my BO Buggy.

Being tiny, I didn't boil them for very long ... 7 minutes. It wasn't enough, so I made egg salad, instead. It's the brightest yellow egg salad I've ever seen, thanks to those gorgeous yolks. I'll try again in a few days when I have some more eggs. I'm determined to get my mini deviled eggs.

I got two rubber eggs on the poop deck this morning. I have no idea if they were from one chicken or two, but I've only gotten one other egg so far today, so I suspect it was a coincidence and two did it. One broke when I tried to pick it up, but I managed to bring the other one in. I had to puncture the "shell" with a small knife. Mixed the egg with milk for a cat treat. They loved it!
