First Egg Countdown

What is "DE Deep Litter Method"?

DE is Diatomaceous Earth. Deep Litter Method is a way of keeping your backyard run without having to shovel it out every week or two. You can find out about both by searching BYC. TONS of information on both of them here.

It happened!! It finally happened!! Just now! One of my Cinnamon Queens laid this little beauty just a day shy of 23 weeks! This is my first egg ever! I can't remember the last time I was so excited, I'm making more noise than she did!! And also I would like to wish a hearty congratulations to everyone else who got their first eggs recently, it means a lot more once you have experienced the same thing! :celebrate

I feel your excitement!!!!! Congrats!

My Black Copper Marans and all my April 9th chicks turn 20 weeks old today. So far 2 are laying, an EE and a golden comet. The wait is on! Two down, six to go! I should say 5 to go, I am not going to expect the Barnevelder to lay anytime soon.

Congratulations!

I have 2 EEs and both started squatting recently, but only one is laying (that I know of). Her first egg (Friday) was mint green, and the third (yesterday) is a gorgeous soft sage green*. They seem to be getting a little darker each day. I'm dying to see what color the other one comes up with.

*I just sent the darker one home with a Special Ed student. I sure hope it survives the bus ride! .... What could I do; he really wanted it!!
