First Egg Countdown

Well, I got an egg on the 2nd day as well! But, I have a question....here are the two different eggs in comparison to my palm. The egg on the 2nd day was SIGNIFICANTLY larger. Is it two different hens laying or can it really be that much bigger overnight? Thanks for your help! It is so much fun finding little "gifts" every day!

The little egg could be a whoopsie in the egg factory starting up - known as a fart egg. Did it have a yolk? If I remember correctly, you said you have bantams? If so, the large egg might be a double yolker. If you have large fowl birds as well, it could be from one of them.

No there wasn't a yolk in the small one, so that makes sense! They are all bantams. Haven't cracked the 2nd one yet. Thanks!

Some new babies to wait on for eggs

By their markings, I think I have 3 pullets and 1 cockerel, but time will tell. They are welsummer chicks with my Icelandic hen as the broody. (she's only 7 months old herself)

Go ahead, reach your hand in and touch her chicks.

I have 2 other broodies with babies due next week - wellies and black sex links.

OMG they are adorable!!! Congrats!

They are, but getting a broody smackdown when you are trying to get the shavings out of the waterer isn't so fun. She's a wonderful mother though, so it's worth it.

I don't know if I should giggle at the visual you just gave me or be more appropriate with my response....Ok, I'll do both....

I'm glad she's a good mommy, but ya, that does stink that she's being a stinker! I guess, sometimes, in order to be a good momma, we have to bring out the claws or beaks in this case. Lol.

That's the cutest little fart egg. I was expecting something of a similar size from my tiny bantam, but her's just look like a regular pee wee egg.

Im still waiting for my chicken children to start....

I have 4 bantams at 17 weeks:
biscuit (a polish), Betsy (an orpington), Panda (a slw), Dottie (a lavender pekin)

and 2 more bantams at 11 weeks
Chirpy (a cukoo maran- cant wait for her eggs!!!) and Poppy (a ginger pekin)

and 3 more..7 weeks.
Mumble (a mottled pekin), Papillion (a polish) and Fumble/Spaz (another polish)
