Thanks for your affirmation. I am super-excited even though my first flock of 3 are already laying. Mable will be the first one from her flock I think. Even though she is not pure but she sure looks pretty.Mable is a silver laced Wyandotte, though she has the incorrect comb and is not of breeding quality - she will lay eggs just fine for you. She does look close to laying.
You probably have a few more weeks on Koko. She is getting there, but doesn't look super close.
if this isn't inside the coop, then she is taking a dirt/dust bath. They do this to cool down and rest. Least that is what mine do.Is this I'm making a nest behavior? She was laying down and moving everything around her.....

Can anyone or thremoderator tell me why I would find two shell less eggs? They all have been laying successfully beautiful eggs and I found two today. The only changes is the weather, had around 4 days of heat indexes over 100. And also switched to pellets instead of crumbles. Still mixing in the Oyster shell. I put out some in a dish by itself as well. Any ideas and should I be worried.? I don't know which chicken (s) it is. They are 24 weeks.
