First Egg Countdown

We are having cold rain and sleet today, but luckily it does not seem to bother the chickens-- we got 6 eggs today, and all but one were actually in the nest boxes this time. They are starting to get the hang of things....

What a cute bowl! For just a second I thought that was a live chicken sitting on those eggs! lol!

Thanks, Happy Chooks! It is nice knowing that she is normal. Can't wait to see the next egg. Micro, normal, who know?!
I got a teeny one today too from one of my barnevelders.

I saw that basket on Amazon and almost bought it!

I thought I would scramble some eggs for the chickens this morning because they LOVE them and I needed to use some, so I scrambled 8 eggs and took them out there. The chickens devoured them in no time!

Then, I went back out about an hour later to check on them again and there were 8 eggs in the nesting box! Those chickens have a sense of humor! Lol!

Although these are not my first eggs from my 2 hens and 4 pullets, however since except for the red-stars almost everyone had practically gone down to 1-2 eggs per week, I am counting them a fresh. So now up from 2 eggs out of 6 at the beginning of March, to 5 out of 6 eggs all week last week, I had six out of six eggs today. I just have to figure out the difference between my Australorp eggs, one has turned a little browner than it used to be and the other one has become a little bigger after the molt.

I hope they keep on going 6 eggs a day from now on. I will post some pictures later.

We actually ended up with ten eggs today, when I went to let them out to free range there were two more eggs in the nesting box! That's a first!

Hey I might have a egg eater in my little flock, because usually get 4 or 5 eggs daily but have gone down to 3 daily and even 2...does anyone know any signs to indicate that I have an egg eater?
Thanks so much,

No, I just got to think'n because I found that an egg without a hard shell in the morning where they sleep- this happened twice- one was cracked... so I just thought that they might be eating the eggs. Idk I may be totally crazy but just wanted to be safe then sorry .

I adopted a Silkie a week ago. Today she laid her first egg at my place. Here is a picture of her and the egg. Egg size is not too bad for a Bantam.

Princess Bubble Gum's egg is to the right. Its not as pink in real.
