one of them ACTUALLY thanked me for the nest boxes! I went to feed and water the garden and THERE IT WAS! I screamed and did the happy dance and praised the buffs profusely and generally freaked out!

store egg for size!

I have two hens been in and out of box for a couple days now and for hours at a time...Just lay already!!!!! One Seabright one orp!!!

Is it normal that when one chicken in a breed starts laying, that the others start soon after? We got our first egg last Sunday, and by this Sunday I was collecting my 13th egg and all three Easter Eggers were now laying. The other breeds have not started yet.

I have my 1 barred rock laying and my 1 speckled Sussex laying. My girls are all 26 weeks and 3 still not cooperating lol. I'm hoping the hop on soon

Got our 4th little egg today....this time on the floor of the coop! Looked like she was trying to make it to the nest, but just couldn't quite get there. All have been perfect 3/4 size eggs. I guess they will get bigger as time goes on. Just hope the rest of them get started soon!
Congrats! And yes, they will get bigger.

Not necessarily. They lay when their bodies are ready. It just happened that they matured at the same rate.
