First Egg Countdown

Just wanted to add that if you have a rooster, you may not see them squat. Most of my girls don't submit to me anymore, I guess they feel the rooster gives them enough attention.

2 more Icelandic layers started up..................pictures coming for you Pele.

Oh! I was wondering why mine never squatted! After tomorrow we'll be rooster-less. Maybe then I'll get to see this infamous squat :)

Here you go Pele:

Icelandics lay a medium egg, but these are really small, probably close to bantam size. (not positive though since I don't raise bantams

And some older pictures of a couple of the girls - I need to get some new pics:

And this girl is the drama queen. No, she's not dead.:

Right, well I've contacted the woman who sold me my two Buff Orps and two RIRs, just to find out for sure how old my girls are - about 16-17 weeks or 12-13 weeks. Bit of a difference, no?

I took some pictures today.

The next ones to start laying for me are my Partridge Rocks. They are 21 and 20 weeks old. They are smaller more colorful cousins to Barred Rocks.

These two Pullets are hanging out with their hatchmate, a Silver Gray Dorking:

The 21 week old PR is Closest. She is talking to me, but I doubt she will egg squatt for me with that gorgeous boy around.

The woman got back to me, and itsn't 100% sure - she has the dates of either March 7th, 19th or 30th as to when my gals hatched. A bit of variation, but at least I know. They still seem to have awfully small combs/wattles for being born then, or am I off on this?

cheers

Can't - stop -looking!!!!!!!!! I swear my girls have had all the signs for weeks. My roo even had his way with my SS yesterday. I am freaking out in anticipation but I know that nothing is going to happen since I can't stop waiting. However, I am dying over here. No matter how many times I swear I won't stop stalking my girls every move so that they will lay, I can't help it.
Me TOO! It's gotten out of control over here. I'm following Pebbles every move (because I'm certain she's going to be the first) and I'll say to her; "When ya gonna start laying huh?"
I'm w a i t i n g! I'm sure my anticipation over her first egg is going to delay the big day, just cause I won't leave her alone, but come on...even the Rooster is showing her how to do it. I just think it's so sweet to see him give a "laying lesson"!
