First Egg Of The Season - - Anyone Else Get One?

Tah dahhhhhhhh!!! I have 2 lil PeaChickies now, as of about 8:30AM today

This new lil guy need a little help with his toes getting taped straight for a few hours and is still a little a little wobbly/weak on it's feet and not as outgoing/curious/active as the first chick is yet, but seems to be doing ok. I gave them some GrowGel and that seems to be helping the new chick perk up and gain some strength. I'm so relieved that it hatched tho! (Even if it doesn't look too thrilled about the photo op, lol).

As you can see this one's quite a bit darker and just has a couple white flights on each wing, but what a difference between the 2... is the lighter one possibly something else besides a Pied IB? This is all new to me, so I'm clueless

I have 4 more PF eggs due to hatch Tues or Wed, then 3 more the week after, then 4 more... the ol Biddy Peahen may stop laying soon, if she has not already decided if she's done for a while (I'll find out tonight or tomorrow night if I don't get any more eggs).

Last year I noticed that my dark dark brown chicks ended up females and my lighter brown ones ended up males. Please keep us informed as to what they look like 6 months from now. I'm thinking the lighter one male and the darker female.

Thanks for the info Yoda... That would be awesome if the lighter chick is a Peacock, then I'll have a keeper boyfriend for 2 of my younger Hens that are not related

I have 29 peafowl eggs currently under broody hens. The first 9 eggs I set will be hatching today and tomorrow. I just checked and two eggs are externally pipped!

I'm just 2 for 2 so far (but whew!!!), and the next 4 that are due for lock-down Wed looked very lively when I just candled a few ago. Maybe I'll even get another surprise or 2 this time
