Wanted to post this before my wife did....She got her first Maran egg today.
We have 2 hens and 6 roo's (bought straight run, who'da thunk it)
Hatched out Jan 23 so that makes them just shy of 24 weeks. Small egg with both light and dark spots. I am sure they will even out in time.
We do have a problem with 1 of the roosters, he is tossing his head around and may have even lost some if not most of his sight over the last few weeks. He hides from the other roos cant seem to find his water or feed very well. he is very docile and will let you pick him up with no problem. His eyes do not look damaged/grey he just has a blank stare. He was one of the larger birds now I have noticed the others are out pacing him in size. Time to cull??
