First Egg !!!

Hi Friends!

Just looked into the duck-house and found our first egg.
No idea who laid it, my primary suspect is Katharina because she's the largest duck, Curiosity and NoName are smaller. One healthy egg, perfect size, a little larger than a chicken egg from the store:

Now we're talking business Duckies!

Three Indian Runner ducks (6 Months old) and yes the egg is greenish.

Cool! I haven't had any Indian runner ducks before but my aunt/neighbor has a few. I prefer to bake with my duck eggs, just fried is to Rich for me.

fawn & White Runners, not sure if my drakes are penciled. Here is a picture of the gang:

From the left, Limpy my special needs drake, Katharina (front) the female that i suspect laid the egg, Curiosity always putting her nose where she should not, Donald (the amaaaiiizing! ) the spots in his face look like made with a pencil and NoName Duck, still have not found a suitable name for a duck with a Quack that let's birds fall dead from the sky…

What determines egg color anyway? My ducks look just the same but I always have only gotten white eggs? I thought it was the color of the duck and I guess that is not so.
