First Egg

My wife checked the coop this morning and found that one of our girls left us a fairy egg. It was found under the roost, so we think that it was laid during the night. Our two oldest Wyandotte pullets just reached 20 weeks this week, so it was right on schedule. For us, as first-time chicken parents, it feels like confirmation that we are doing things right.

It looks like you are correct. Today my wife had to remove another egg from beneath Shirley, one of our two, 20 week old, gold laced Wyandotte hens. It appears that they prefer to make their own nest in the coop rather than use one of our nesting boxes with ceramic eggs.
