First eggs

I am a first time chicken owner. I have 4 pairs of layers and two layed their first eggs last week. It has been four days now and no second egg. Is this normal? When can I expect next egg? Is ther any thing I can do or should be doing in the meantime other than waiting?

All you can do is wait...not so patiently if you are like me!

It takes several weeks for them to 'rev' up the egg production. Until then expect weird eggs (ie sometimes no yolk, or no shell, etc), intermittent laying and small size.

Just make sure they have a good laying feed and oyster shell/calcium source and they will eventually get around to giving you more eggs on a regular basis!
