First Hatch 2010-Rocks, Amer's, etc. (FINISHED!)

Improved health is a great thing!

A second BBS Ameraucana has hatched, seems dark, maybe black. The last BBS Rock is also out. Everyone else is taking their sweet time, but Fern's baby is hollering inside that egg.

Oh, yeah, it's Fern's kid, fer sure! LOL. Got a 3rd Ameraucana out of the egg, so there are several loudmouth kids clumping around the bator, playing chickie-bowling with the other eggs.


EDITED @ 7:20 p.m..... I am feeling sick again so may not be on the spot getting updates on the hatch. There are only a few eggs left to go. Fern's baby is out and it's a honking big boy! Huge comb already. Will catch you all up later tonight.

Well, got another cool cracker jack surprise in an BBS Ameraucana egg! Actually, Samantha said if one of the Ameraucana chicks comes out looking funny, it was because of her DH's BLRW rooster being in there a couple weeks before she collected the eggs. And, lo and behold, a reddish-gold chick with a single comb out of a blue egg! This will be so fun to watch it develop!! Thanks, again, Sam! This is so fun. My favorite chickens have been happy accidents in the past.

Just two Ameraucanas and two BRs left to hatch.

It's after midnight. There is one BR (Fern's) and one Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana zipping. That will be all 19 hatched when they're done. I did get a splash Ameraucana. Will get pics tomorrow. Boy, the redheaded Ameraucana cross stands out like a sore thumb among the blacks and blues!

I think I'm liking that little cross breed BLRW/Ameraucana best of all. But then you know me...I have a soft spot for the "Happy Accidents"

I'm so looking forward to seeing pics of the whole new little flock in the brooder, but please dear lady, take it easy! Get them settled tomorrow and then get some rest. They'll be just fine for a day or two on their own.

Hatch is done. 19 babies in the brooder, 12 Rocks (blue/black/splash & barred) and 6 Ameraucanas (BBS & Wheaten/blue wheaten) and 1 very cool BLRW x BBS Ameraucana (wish I knew what color the mother was!) So out of 22 were viable and actually started development, that's not too bad. Look at my cute redhead in there!

Congratulations! I LOVE your little redhead! I bet that will be a pretty cool baby - hope it's a girl.
How is Tom's back after that fall? And how are YOU this morning? I think we will all feel better when spring comes. This nasty weather does NOT help.
