first hatch total disaster

Is that one of those little yellow dome things heated by a light bulb and foil? I bought one to use as a backup, and never did get the temp over 88 degrees. It does make great night light

98-105 degrees is a pretty big range for an incubator. That may have been part of the problem right there.

I think if your wanting to hatch a good number of chicks into the future a new incubator is worth the investment. If you just want a few occasionally keep trying with what you've got and see if you can get the temperature more stable.
