First incubation coming soon, I am nervous! :D

Thank you! All the best to your hatch as well! :) I have darker eggs from one of my hens too, but not dark to a point where you couldn't see the air cell and some veins. I can imagine very dark eggs can be pretty challenging in terms of identifying how they are doing.
Thank you also. Today is day 24 and still no pips over here. I did check the eggs once again tonight. I have 2 that look like they are still alive and I can see he air cell and the movement of one of the chicks. The other egg look very dark but no movement when I checked it again. I didn't see a internal pip either I moved the incubator to the kitchen and cleaned out the other eggs which looked like they never made it at all. So if these 2 hatch I will be very happy.

How are yours doing tonight?

Fingers crossed for these two then! Any new progress? I haven't checked mine yet, I will check tonight though, in about 10 hours or so, that's when it will be exactly 7 days.

So the second batch of eggs ended up the same way - no development whatsoever. I don't really know what that means... I am lost. I started another thread to ask others for their opinion of what could be wrong.

My first 2 we're the same. My roo is a Cochin and my hen too.so have very fluffy butts. Think that got in the way of connection. I trimmed them and have fertilized eggs now

I don't think that is my problem. One of the hens has no feathers around her vent due to a specific chronic problem she has and my egg yolks appear to be fertilized... So I am really clueless so far.

Hmmm not sure. I thought mine were fertilized before but someone said a "false positive" not sure if that is what it was or not. Hopefully someone more experienced can give you ideas

The two hatched but are extremely small. They pipped then took them a long time before they even began to unzip the eggshell. Both are weak I had made up electrolytes all ready when I saw them pip. So now they will get the electrolytes as well as Vitamins. I already named the smallest one Buttons. She/He is so tiny. I just hope they make it. The first one hatched at 11:57 pm while Buttons was still doing nothing. I guessing she was resting. At about 4 am I checked nothing was going on. Same size pip no signs of her zipping but when I got up at 9 am she was out and wet. She had just hatched even her shell was still wet so I know I had just missed her hatching. But I was up and down all night making sure the other little one was getting electrolytes. Ever few hours today I have made sure both of them are taking a little electrolytes to. I will do that tonight to till I know they are ok. Food I am not worried about but drinking I am since they can survive off the yolk for a few days. The yolk sack was still attached to the bigger one when she hatched. It fell off today and she is ok. That was a bit scary seeing it still on her and her moving all over the incubator.

I am sorry to read that the second batch did not have any signs of development at all. I think it may be time to grab someone else's fertile eggs and try them to see if its your incubator or the Rooster not doing his job correctly. Take 2 or 3 eggs and see if you can hatch them.

Oh wow, that's great news then! And you are awesome for taking care of them this well! I wish them both all the best. :) I am sure they will grow up to be fabulous birds. :)

It cannot be the incubator nor the storage. If something would be off with that, I would see some attempts at development at least, eventhough failed. But there isn't a single sign in any one of these eggs. My only guess is that the rooster didn't mate with the hens yet, but then I am not sure why would many people confirmed my egg yolks as fertile. I compared it with pictures on the internet and they really do look that way.. So I don't know. I don't really want to hatch other eggs.. I want chicks of my girls that are close to my heart. I just gotta find out what's wrong.
