First incubation of duck eggs

Ridged board. It was too slipperY. I’ll cut fabric next time.
I'm sorry I'm not sure what a ridged board is.

I highly recommend the grippy type shelf paper. Hold I'll get a picture.
 
That looks like Brinsea hatching thingys. They work fine for me. Cardboard you throw away after the hatch. But the shelf liner sounds good too. Soft and washable.
Yes, I like shelf liner idea. It was a brinsea hatch pad... like cardboard - a bit crappy if you ask me.
 
Here they are, and all of them are active. Three in the picture, five sleeping under the heater. They come running to me when I talk to them. During the last week of incubation, I was talking to them a couple of times a day. And if I was on the phone I went and stood by them so they heard my voice. They have zero fear of me. I imagine they will follow me around like they would a momma duck.
