First incubation of duck eggs

The only other thing I would recommend is opening the vent 100% now (I actually keep mine completely open through the entire incubation and hatch process)

Ducks take a long time to hatch. Upwards of 48 hours from initial pip is not uncommon. So be prepared for a grueling wait.

Be prepared for the longest most anxious wait ever once they Pip. My first duck hatch I was sooo anxious. The first egg pipped and had absolutely nothing else happen for about a day and a half. I grew so anxious I started to help- carefully peeling back shell and applying coconut oil to moisten the membrane. Since I was so careful and slow I realized this baby was simply not ready yet as the veins had not been absorbed yet. I put the egg back and kept waiting. It’s a longggg waiting game! I’m kicking myself. I just should have ordered day old ducklings. It’s a bit nerve wracking!

I thought the same thing while waiting for the first eggs that I intentionally picked for the incubator. But I kind of believe the people who say the ducklings can hear you while they're still in their egg now because the ducklings from the incubator are nicer than any duckling I ever picked up at TSC or wherever. It's like they recognize my voice and aren't as nervous as day old ducklings I've had in the past.
