first look out the ADOR1

THAT is Very Cool!!

I saw some interesting metal fence / snow thaw photo ops today....unlike you, I was too lazy to wade out and take a pic.

Glad the roof held up!
Must be fastened well, doesn't really look like it needs another support midway, huh?
Did you keep it brushed off at all?

Well, it was like that for a few days, so all I had to do was remember to take the camera with me when I went out to feed the chickens. :)

The hardware cloth is fastened with washers/screws every six inches all along the edges. I agree, it doesn't look like it needs more support - what a relief! No, I didn't brush off any snow, I just let it happen. I'm all about easy, if possible! We got lots of snow, for us, but I'm sure it doesn't compare to what you get each winter!

Now it's busy thawing, since it's been above freezing for the past couple days for the first time in a long time. So the snowy run roof has been "raining" on the poor chickens! And now we're set to have a real rain storm tomorrow, so nothing's drying out any time soon. At least it's still dry inside the coop!

One of my Brahmas has decided she really likes to sit on my lap and shove her head inside my coat under my arm (is she trying to get under my "wing?"), but with it so wet, it's kind of gross to have her feet on my pants! Once the storm is passed tomorrow, I'm going to put a bag of dry leaves in the run so they have something dry to walk on and dig through.
