This is the quilt top that I finished for my nephew for his wedding tomorrow. I needed something that was fairly fast to sew up and still interesting. I made a simple disappearing nine patch in aqua, black with aqua design and beige on beige. The border is just various width strips of the three fabrics.
Now, I have to bring it in to get quilted. My nephew and fiance will get a picture of the quilt with a promise that they will get in when it is completed.
Next week, I can start on these blocks!

Is the wool you used a square piece to match the fabric square?
Nope I just hand shredded some left over wool batting and stuffed it in but retroactive leaving it as a square and layering it might have worked better. At times I also use wool I wash and card myself. I think you can use anything and even upcycle a clean old wool garment or sweater and either cut it up or use it as it is. I am getting more creative with finding wool to stuff pincushions or use in needle cases. Buying it is expensive. I also learned to use white and natural cotton batting in needle cases versus the expensive felted wool. It works as well and it is easier to put the needles /pins in and out. I also have a needle case some one made with squares cut from an older wool garment. You can home felt it a bit by washing it on hot.
That is a stunning quilt! The colors are very pleasing. They are fortunate to have such a nice aunt.

This is our little doggie, Willow. These pics are a couple years old. Her coloring has changed a bit. She is more silver than in these pics. She is almost 4 1/2 yo. I know her ears look big. Everyone comments on them. They only look bigger because I let her fur grow long on them. If I let the groomer shave them, she looks like she has bat ears!!
I've always been interested in wool felting. I know thrift shops sometimes have wool items. It is getting harder to find. I don't think many garments are made from wool anymore. I would think the wool would keep the needles conditioned. The little red tomato shaped pincushions used to have sand in them. Not sure if they still do. I sounds like the natural cotton batting is more cost effective if you are going to make lots of them. Either way, they are very nice!
