First time crowing!

I went out to open the coop this morning and found that Gwennie woke up with his big boy voice. He did it 3 times for me.
Even though I have to rehome my roosters is it weird I’m proud of him??

Please. My pullets bully my cockerel all the time. Whoever told you that is just flat out lying. Its normally the opposite.

Definitely not weird to be proud of him! When I first heard my big rooster crow, I felt my heart swell with pride because my son was turning into a man!

Thanks, I so want to keep him but everything I've been told i that if he stays with the girls he grew up with he will torture them once the hormones kick in He's such a sweet boy

Ive never had a rooster that has been mean to his hens. My little bantam Sebring started crowing yesterday. He is too cute for words!!!

Roosters protect their hens. He may peck at you if he thinks you are trying to get at them. I have had 5 boys. All from day old chicks and other than breeding they are great with their hens. The hens torture each other though

My guy that crowed today (Gwennie - we thought he was a she "Gwendolyn") he also developed what I believe to be a cataract so I don't want to rehome a defective chicken to someone else.
The other one we know is a boy for sure "S!@thead", I think he is going to my niece's flock. He can be a jerk but he likes to cuddle me

Thanks @Homesteadermomma6382 & @Ihavesomechickens , I have been thinking of trying to keep one of my boys... I think I may just give it a go! They're too handsome to send else where... especially freezer camp!

I could never eat my chickens!!! Thats why they all get names lol

Same over here too. But I understand the people that do do it, it gives them food for their families. I don’t have a family ( well, no partner or kids), and I couldn’t kill a chicken anyways.
