First time hatchers hatch A-long!

Day 12 here. I’m going to start my second round of candling when I get home from church. Today will be the day I start tossing any clears or blood rings. I’m nervous to find out if any didn’t make it. I few looked like they had possible blood rings Tuesday.

Hopefully you don't have to toss any. I'm crossing my fingers for you!

Yesterday I candled, and I would see movement in our favorite egg we nicknamed Speckles. Its a Speckled egg who we are hoping will hatch. He was the only one with movement, so that was exciting! The rest I candled, (I only candled 3 for a friend to see) had stooge veins but no movement. I'm very exciting to see how the rest of them do!

Looks like I can add a broody Mallard duck to the hatch-A- long as well! She started incubating eggs today. She hatched 3 last year as well, and I'm excited for her to hatch more! I will have to rehome some of the babies, so hopefully I wont get to attached.
Her babies are supposed to hatch on mothers day to!

Out of the 33 I had 1 clear and 1 blood ring. None of the 31 left seem overly suspicious.

Awesome! Only 2 not viable, that isn't bad at all. Now come on babies!

How fun! I am still hoping one of my hens go broody so they can raise these chicks when they hatch but now it's too late since they are due any time now (day 19 here, eeek!)

I thought the crack was a pip on the pointy end so I opened the incubator to prop it up because it was upside down but it wasn’t a pip
The incubator water is running low but one of the chicks looks like it’s gonna hatch soon so I don’t wanna open the bator to fill it
I started out with seven eggs, two never developed and I dropped another. I have 4 that made it to lockdown
