I had them between 60 and 70 and was told the sweet slot is 65 but I guess it depends on other factors like your climate- if it’s not super hot and dry where you are there is less risk of shrink wrapping. I’m not the most experienced person when it comes to hatching if I’m honest but I definitely noticed how much conflicting information there is on lockdown humidity, from as low as 50 to as high as 80! I keep a spray bottle to hand and cover vents if needed.Aww i would love some tamed button quails. Random question but what humidity did you have them at on lockdown since im having issues rising mine above 63%z
They are super adorable flighty little things. I’m not sure if it’s JUST hecause they hatched alone but my last lot of chicks cling to eachother and we’re a bit scared of us from day 2 whereas this chick runs and jumps into my hand. I will be pleased if they grow up tame. I found cleaning out my adults whilst acting like they weren’t there/completely ignoring them helped them feel more relaxed about me.
nice, we also have the same brand of water drinkers. My 50 W bulb produces a hotspot of up to 104F, the space is quite small and you want to create a temperature gradient so they can regulate themselves so I think you are good with just that one. It is open top but it the ambient temperature in the room isn’t too low it should be fine. I check the temps with an infra red thermometer, my kitchen meat thermometer and those little cheap hygrometer/thermometer things. Here is what the temporary brooder should look like:

Im currently trying to set the temperature. It has to be pretty low to get the right temperature (50 watt ceramic heater) im thinking i should get a higher watt heat emitter, or would a infrared one work better with distance? And if so 75 or 100 watt ones?
