First time hatching in a homemade bator!!

Crossing my fingers all the time and energy my wife and I have put in will turn out for the good!! Day 21 will be sun the 15th!! Have had a hard time keeping temp right but like I said first time!! Kids r excited!! (Me too!!!) Lockdown tomorrow night!

Well dad is a Rhode Island Red moms r barred rocks and gold laced wyndottes and silver laced wyndottes and amber rocks and auracaunas!! Kind of a wide variety of a flock! The daddy is my neighbors he has been sneaking over to visit my ladies! I don't have a rooster myself but he thinks my coop is his coop!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but when I go into lockdown tomorrow night I need to maintain 60-70% humidity? And 102 degrees? Still air bator by the way! Just don't want to screw it up since I've came this far with it! Everything looks like I'm on track when I candled last!

102 is a little too high. I shoot for 100 with 65% humidity. Good luck and have fun with it!

You might want to look at the thread titled "sex linked information" That roo over your barred rocks and silver laced wyandottes will give you sex linked chicks! I'm not sure if it'll work with the amber rocks. How exciting!

Yes, you want to get your humidity up. I think 65% is your goal. Check Sally Sunshine's profile. She's the hatching queen and has tons of stuff for you to read. Once that first chick hatches, there will be enough moisture from that egg to keep the humidity up for the rest of the hatch.

I will try to post a couple pics of my homemade bator when I get home this evening! It ain't pretty but it's doing the job! It only cost me $14 most of it I had laying around!
