I love it. Chicks can't poop in their food or turn it over, same thing with water. It has a sliding metal tray I line with newspaper underneath to catch the poop (chicks are on wire) so no wood shavings. I can change the newspaper daily with ease. I find it is much cleaner than the brooders I made in years past. It's very easy to see into, also, so it is fun to watch them. In short, everything I didn't like about brooding (the constant mess in the water dish, the spilled food, the smell) have been taken care of, and only the cute chicks part is left.

How awesome... I am going to have to look into that if I keep hatching eggs the way I am... lol cardboard boxes and bins are getting messy.

Whoo-hooo! Woke up this morning to a RIR that hatched and so far four more RIR's and a mix hatched.

So far, no Barred Rocks or SLWyandottes have even pipped their shell yet...trying to be patient!!

Demp4, love the brooder too...might have to look into that myself!

i'm at day eight but last night i had a dream i was one week farther ahead. i want my chickies!

OK, I am on Day 10, and I just candled, paying close attention to the "questionable" eggs. I had to toss 4 banty eggs

so I now have 16 banties, and 7 LF barnyard mix eggs in my eco 20. I hope the rest make it!

came home and one had some leaking yoke, i looked it over more closely and it was cracked. it's out of there.

one of those has a hairline crack at the air sack end that has tape on it and continues to develop

it doesn't smell and isn't leaking or weeping, so it's going to stay for now

I've doing a staggered hatch again with hatch dates a week apart in a separate hatcher. I candled my first 25 Sunday and had 1 bloodring. The second 16 will be candled Saturday. Hopefully they are all good and I'll have 40 black sex links. My first hatch date is April 6th but I bet they're early again. These sex links want to get out of those shells! LOL I'm also getting some chicks in from Cackle Hatchery on that day! I'll be stressed to the max next week! But having fun!!!
