First Time Hatching....Round 2

Quote:
According to the GQF website, the brooder will hold 48 chicks for 4 weeks. The implication from this is that it holds twenty four 4 - 6 week old chicks comfortably.

I have 26 chicks in it (5 three week old and 21 two week old) and the GQF chick number recommendation seems a little tight. However, there is a lot of room in it and no floor space needs to be taken up by food or water (except I did set one small food and small waterer inside because I had the two different ages). It cost about $250 with shipping.

Ohhhhh I think I'm going to put that on my list of "want's!!!

We candled a bunch of our eggs Wednesday night. The turkey eggs have been in since 3/16 and the chickens since 3/22. All the chicken eggs we checked were developing great. 3 of the turkeys were clear so we pulled them out.
All the BLRW look good.

We might sell some of the rest but we're keeping all of these.

one day closer to new chicks!

my first four are kind of gawky looking now with part fuzz and part feathers, and just between us, they aren't terribly bright, but i sure do love having them around.

and my rescue dog is doing great with them, i'm not sure the chicks like the kisses though....

So I went on Lock down Friday night... and today I woke up to peeping my daughter says mom I think I here peeping I was like oh will have some hatch soon...

I walk over and look at incubator and 4 chicks hatched in the night... WOW!
