First Time Hatching....Round 2

I'm also locking down on wednesday. I think this hatch went quicker than the first...maybe because i have my cute little chicks to focus on!

We woke up to 8 more this am... So now we have a total of 16 out of 19 viable eggs. Waiting on 3 more.

My humidity and temp was high so I took them out and it never dipped below 70% or 100.5 degrees so I am hoping the other 3 hatch but they haven't even pipped so I don't know... .

I already have improved from the 1st hatch... last one only 30% hatched (and half of those died) This time 80% hatched and they are all doing well!!!

Has anyone here ever hatched guinea fowl? My friend asked if I would and I didn't know if they were different or not?

I am also on the search for more eggs to start again this week. Friends keep calling to want to buy chicks!

Round 2 going much better for me too, yesterday on day 20, had 2 silkie chicks hatch! Both very vigorous, and hatched themselves, they are splash of course, I bought all buff eggs and these were thrown in as extras...ok, now today is day 21 and I want to see the remaining 6 eggs come out buffs!

ps no shrink wrapping this time, humidity above 70% during lockdown.

My first hatch and so far 7 baby quail. It is driving me crazy to leave them in the incubator. They started hatching at 8 last night. I have to work tonight till 9 won't be home till almost 10. Will they be ok till then? The instructions say not to open the bator for 24 hours after they start to hatch, that will be 26 hours since the first hatched will he be ok? Also there is an egg that started to pip last night and now it looks like it quit, I pulled the one of the vent plugs out last night, I am afriad I killed it. Any body have any words of wisdom for this worry wart?

thanks

Sometimes they pip and quit, you can't blame yourself every time. That said, I wouldn't pull a plug unless the humidity is much too high, though. What was your humidity % before and after?

I don't have a humidity gauge, there were some water drops on the window and I was afraid to go to bed last night and the humidity would be too high. I replaced the plug this morning. There were 2 hatched when I went to bed last night and 7 this morning.

Will they be ok till I get home tonight to move them to the brooder or should I move them before I go to work at 12?

thanks
